WRITING
What did you first read? How did you begin to write? Who were the first to read what you wrote?
If You Give A Mouse a Cookie. I just did, I learned like everyone else did. My family.
What is your favorite genre? Can you provide a link to a site where we can read some of your work or learn something about it?
My favorite genre is History and Fiction.
What is your creative process like? What happens before sitting down to write?
I have to think for a very long time to get ideas rolling around in my head and then I finally put them on paper.
What type of reading inspires you to write?
About the ways people struggle to get their coming out stories heard.
What do you think are the basic ingredients of a story?
Me, thinking, ideas, and talking.
What voice do you find most to your liking: first person or third person?
I don't quite understand...
What well known writers do you admire most?
R.L. Stein... He's always been my favorite.
What is required for a character to be believable? How do you create yours?
I map my character out very well. From the hair color, their occupation, the pants they wear to the things they say (i.e. are they going to be a classy character or very urban- like).
Are you equally good at telling stories orally?
No, not at all. I like to hurry up and get the the end. Lol
Deep down inside, who do you write for?
I write for myself. To let all my frustrations out, things that I think about alot... It's more of a calming point for me.
Is writing a form of personal therapy? Are internal conflicts a creative force?
Come again?
Does reader feed-back help you?
Sometimes, if I allow someone to read my material.
Do you participate in competitions? Have you received any awards?
No and no.
Do you share rough drafts of your writings with someone whose opinion you trust?
Sometimes. If I think it's really good and they are really close to me. Then maybe...
Do you believe you have already found "your voice" or is that something one is always searching for?
I haven't found it. Sometimes I think I have. but then I always tend to run and hide again.
What discipline do you impose on yourself regarding schedules, goals, etc.?
I don't have any. I just write when I feel like it.
What do you surround yourself with in your work area in order to help your concentrate?
Lots of books... Oh, and a dictionary (English and Spanish)
Do you write on a computer? Do you print frequently? Do you correct on paper? What is your process?
I write free- hand and after I correct spelling and all, I'll type it on computer.
What sites do you frequent on-line to share experiences or information?
I only share the status on what I am currently writing about. And that would be on Myspace, Face book and Twitter.
What has been your experience with publishers?
I've never had an experiance with one. But when I am done writing this book, I think I will see if it has potential to get published.
What are you working on now?
Gaysies of the 916
What do you recommend I do with all those things I wrote years ago but have never been able to bring myself to show anyone?
Just keep them for memories. I do...
MEMOIRS
What is your earliest memory?
My earliest memory? Hmmm, that's a real thinker. lol Next..?
Who were your childhood playmates? What did you play?
Haha... my cousins. What did we play? What do kids play?
What toys do you recall most fondly?
Barbie? lol
What can you tell us about your family?
We fight alot, we talk behind eachother's backs, but over all and at the end of the day, we love each other.
What was primary school like? What teachers and classmates do you recall most vividly?
Mrs. Walker and Mr. Brown. They taught me alot and I loved school...
What characters, famous people, or heroes did you identify with as a child?
Haha, I wanted to be like Ken. You know, Barbie's husband. He had whatever Barbie had.
How complicated was your transition to adulthood?
Oh, you'll read about it in my new book. Enough said.
What can you tell us about your discovery of sex?
Haha, it was.... an adventure.
Did you always know what you wanted to be? How did you discover your calling?
I just loved to write. English was my favorite subject in school.
How many times have you found the love of your life? What about unrequited love?
Well, I myself think I found her once. I was dumb to let her go, and now I run my life looking for that love again.
What was your first job? How did your first work experience turn out?
I worked for the EDD, it was fun.
What do you consider the most important projects or businesses you have been involved in.
Well, I think writing my book, although it might not get me anywhere, is going to be good for me coming to terms with my life. So this is very IMPORTANT TO ME.
Who have been the key people along your professional path; people who have believed in you and given you opportunities?
My family, they never tell me that I can't do something. Always so positive.
Cities, neighborhoods, and houses where you have lived: how have they marked the phases of your life?
Ummmm, huh?
Have you ever "come out of a closet" of some sort? What challenges have you had to overcome?
Yes, I am gay. lol I had to come out the closet to my family. Fortunately I have the best family so they support me and my decisions. I just wished I had told my mother before her passing.
What are the greatest successes and the major failures of your life?
The greatest success in my life is living. And my biggest failure..? Not becoming what I wanted in Hollywood.
In the lowest moments, what kept you afloat?
God and my family.
What do you give thanks to life for? What do you think you have had good luck in, and what not?
I give thanks for my health. I have a heart disease and I thank God for everyday I wake up. Bad luck? I don't know if I have any. lol
What was the best time in your life?
I just love to be around my family. So that's always a best time to me.
If you write your memoirs someday, what will be the title?
Memoirs of a Drag Queen. lol I just think it's a cute title. But i'm working on Gaysies of the 916 and it's kind of the memoirs of when I was a drag queen. So, I don't know...
What are the things that you definitely want to do before dying?
I want to travel to Spain, New York and Italy.
