SPORTS
What is your sport, and what level of commitment do you have to it?
Our sport is paintball and we are one of the best and biggest Paintballing companies in the United Kingdom.
Can you provide a link to a site where we can get to know more about you or your sports activity?
How did you get started? Who introduced you to the sport?
We opened in 1991 and have been going strong ever since! Bedlam Paintball's founder Roman Rock as loved the sport for along time!
Who was the sports idol that impressed you the most as a child? And who impresses you now?
Muhammed Ali and Andy Murray
Do you have a coach/trainer who guides and helps you? What is your relationship with that person like?
We are fortunate to work with many different companies throughtout the United Kingdom and we have a strong relationship with many US paintballing companies, including SocialPB, PSP Events and in Canada- the Crimson Sabres.
Who have been your best teammates? Why?
Our marshalls are absolutely fantastic. They take care of every paintballer who comes through Bedlam's doors and guide them with their years of expertise.
How does your emotional state effect your physical performance?
In paintballing... being slightly calm really helps with your aim.
How has your sport helped your personal growth?
Paintballing help's to strengthen one's abilities with Teamwork and personal resolve.
Which gives more satisfaction: to surpass a rival, or to surpass yourself?
Surpassing yourself.... Only joking, beating another Paintball team is fantastic, way better and surpassing yourself!
What methodology do you use to improve your technique? A special technology?
It simply. Just dont get shot. But we pick up lots of tips from the Crimson Sabres blog and SocialPB. Our own blog is packed full of advice too.
There are some who are addicted to the endorphins produced by exercise. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Infact they're the people you give the most paintballs too..
What other sports or competitions do you follow closely? What magazines or websites do you use to keep up to date?
We follow everyone. There's not one paintballing blog out there that doesn't teach you some new team tactic. Personally, I love the Tippmann's newsletter regarding new technological releases. I've defo got the bug for new paintball technology.
How do you control negative thoughts after a mistake, such as hitting a ball into your own team's goal or getting off to a bad start?
You've got no time for negative thoughts. One negative and some other guy will smack you with a paintball.
How do you feel the public influences your performance?
At Bedlam Paintball, I follow every suggestion that people make. Paintball isn't the same as it is in the US though. In the US its a sport, in the UK its seen as more of a day out. But the public opinion is what drives us to improve.
Is it a good thing to have a certain amount of rivalry among members of a team?
It totally depends on the situation. But a little rivalry goes a long way.
Is there telepathy in the way some moves are coordinated among team members?
Take the Crimson Sabres for example, they coordinate their moves alongside tactics learn't from many sources, including the armed services. Me, I just point and shoot. If my teammate gets in the way, He's gone! I've not got tactics, but I do have one beast of an aim.
Is it necessary for someone to be the head of a team so that it can reach its full potential?
I do think leadership is important. But leadership should rotate frequently, it gives every teammate a chance to lead.
Have you have suffered any serious injuries? How is morale maintained during recovery?
Not a single injury. I'm very lucky.
Is sport a social sublimation of war?
I don't think so. But it should be aggressive. Maybe war is the antisocial sublimation of Sport?
Should technology be used to replace referees in sports events?
heck no! I love hitting the refs with paintballs....
Knowing how to deceive the adversary can help gain points. How is this ability acquired?
By flanking the enemy and making sure you've got a quicker trigger-finger than they do.
What plans do you have for yourself? What do you want to achieve?
We want to expand Bedlam exponentially and achieve a global brand. I also want to develop the biggest UK tournament to date in paintballing.
What advice do you have for those just starting out?
In the UK, you should really listen to the marshalls and learn from what they have experienced. Read paintballing blogs and pick up tips.
