BLOGGING
What is your blog address? What subjects do you deal with?
My blog address is http://www.clevernameless.blogspot.com I deal with any topic that intrigues me at that exact moment when I log on, which is the same time I'm expecting myself to come up with something moderately to extremely interesting for others to see and enjoy. These subjects deal with anything from humorous videos from YouTube, promotions of my favorite music at the time, pictures of myself, others, and ideas and thoughts that I have as well. Main thing is, I like everything that I post at least a little. I keep my expectations sort of low so that if someone really likes something and compliments me it's always a big surprise!
What was it that made you create your blog? On what date did you start it?
I created a blog out of my own curiosity and I'd be so angst-y without it! It's a good way to just stretch out and release tension. I started it around December 2009, I think.
What blogging system have you adopted and why?
Well I blog everyday, if not, usually more than four times a week. I'm making sure I give people something to hold onto for a while so the times when I take a little break (because I don't blog for a living, I work and I am a student) my blog doesn't lose too much momentum.
How many visits a day do you get? What type of comments do you receive?
I think right now I get a few views, anywhere from 50-100 which is wishful thinking. Had I not gotten a faulty view counter which ended up bugging on me I would have a more accurate idea of the view count, so. I receive heartfelt, funny, joyous, interesting, loving, cool comments from all sorts of people in the blogger world. Comments come far and few between but that makes me more grateful and perpetuates fuel so that I want to post more!
How has 'having a blog' contributed to your life?
It does give back, having a blog. It basically just makes me feel relieved at the end of a day. In part because I have so much running through my brain that needs to be posted (sometimes, when I'm not having a mental-dry-spell, that is) and partly because I feel paranoid if I don't!
Does blogging bring in income for you? Can one make a living from posting?
Not yet, if it ever will, that is. And yes, I'm sure! I mean, I'm not too educated on whether one can directly make cash by blogging but I know you can inadvertently! Say you have a product or something and you just blog-a-billion. You can make money that way...but if this is an offer I'm not gonna doubt that you can haha. Not at all.
How do you promote your blog?
Right now I promote my blog by posting sort of surprises on Twitter when I put up a new post. I hope people like it, and I keep going.
Are there any blogs you follow daily or regularly?
I have a few blogs I go to readily and others I stumble upon. The one (and only) blog I go to readily is www.bbcicecream.com/blog/, www.morrgaruya.blogspot.com I check regularly, and www.therealkesh.blogspot.com, and I look at my own everyday haha and its URL is www.clevernameless.blogspot.com
How do you see your blog evolving in the future?
My blog will grow as I grow, I've decided. I really have a set target for it, and that's that I hope it gets more interesting. I know it will, but I have a thing about this. See, the way I live isn't worth posting about so I just focus on my current cultural interests. When my life picks up pace I see my blog either disappearing from existence or I'll have cool, sort of rich photography about my own life while it's happening. Sort of like a personal website. I'd decide from there what the core topic would be- whether I focus on what I'm wearing or what I'm doing, or both. Why not?
What advice would you give to someone who wishes to begin a blog?
I'd just try to get across that blogs aren't about pleasing other people, they're about your interests. Try not to do it for views, meaning posting something because you like it is the best bet. Experimenting is cool too.
CULTURE
What do you currently have in your MP3 player?
I've recently been into Justin Bieber, Dom Kennedy, Drake, M.I.A., Sia, The Hood Internet, Tame Impala, B.o.B., Urban Outfitters: Music Mondays, Travie McCoy, Asher Roth. My classics are N.E.R.D., Pharrell Williams, including anything and everything Neptune produced that I can find (and trust me I'm always looking), Mac Miller (although I'm not convinced I like his music), Wiz Khalifa, and some Peter Bjorn and John. There's more. I actually had to wipe my iPod clean and only add the "recently added" playlist because I only have an 8G iPod touch, sad face.
What books are you currently reading?
The Outliers and my Urban Outfitters employee manual thingy. I just got hired not too long ago :).
What is that special film you never tire of watching?
For some reason the answer to this question is Stranger Than Fiction! Super creative storyline. I love it.
How do you explain the rise in "fame" culture?
I was just explaining this to my mother today, funny. I think it's just that people have a very stimulated sense of achievement when it comes to people who want to be famous. The media publicizes literally anyone and everything now days so of course people think that they can do it too if they just do what they can to get people to look in their direction. It just so happens that it's in the form of modeling, acting, rapping, singing, and in other forms of art-making and being creative in general. I think there's an overwhelming amount of mediocre talent that smothers the real talent because of the fact that there's an overstimulation caused by the media. I also think that it's a slight problem, and I stress the word slight, because in the end anyone that's not willing to be 100% for whatever they're aiming to be will fall short. Something is going to happen in the future, I don't know what, but it'll make all the "fame" hype calm down a bit. A stock market crash? Hope not.
What do you have in your wallet right now?
Two straps that hold everything down (my wallet is metal, I actually think it's best considered a card holder). I have a debit card, a library card, my school (University of Houston) ID card, my CPR certification of completion card, and other miscellaneous card-sized items.
A YouTube video about something that was significant to your life.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgOTtiRwl9M What this video describes is sort of obscure in meaning if you don't know me very, very well. I'll tell you. I feel that Pharrell Williams is the definition and real-life example of what it looks like when you follow your passions and they manifest themselves into tangible things i.e. the best song I've ever heard. Every song he makes is the best song in the world (while I'm listening to it) because I feel, and from what he says in his interviews, that he strives for the utmost perfection in his own craft! Do you realize what this means!? Think about it. Also, he has inspired some of the goals I have for my own life. He is a major influence in my life. Don't get me wrong, his influence in my life is well balanced by that of a few others. For example, my parents.
PHILOSOPHY
For you, what is "the good life"?
Doing what you want to do within a good headspace of undoubted moral standing while giving back to the universe and loving it all at the same time!
What is the secret to happiness?
Not really listening. I mean once you reach a certain age you have to stand alone and stand strong. I believe you need not listen to what others say (including parents at times) and live your own life, doing what you know will keep your headspace clear and crispy! Do what rids you of your anxiety while not being self-destructive.
What is a friend?
Someone who reciprocates without thinking twice about it. Someone who can make you laugh. Someone who cares when you don't. Someone you can count on to support your LIFE if you needed. A friend is not a pushover, a sucker for attention, selfish or arrogant towards you, and is always there to first and foremost be great company. A friend is there to talk to you about anything. If they have nothing to say, they always listen. And nod.
Does the soul exist?
Absolutely. You know the part of you that feels something when your brain doesn't even think it? That's a soul.
What is God?
The Alpha and Omega, the Creator of all things.
What is the best attitude to have for experiencing life and not missing out on its intensity?
Work hard in every moment to achieve everything you imagine, dream off, and aspire to be.
On your death bed, what do you think you will regret not having done more of in life?
Well if I died today, I'd regret having not dated more guys in high school. I'd regret not having stuck with playing cello and viola. There's a pattern here. So I guess the phrase for my regret would be not living life to the fullest. There's always something to be done to fulfill that goal everyday. But I've started up. I don't just sit and watch anymore.
What will your epitaph be?
