What made you interested in design?
Having also been an illustrator I feel I understand two very strong elements to commercial art. I prefer the precision, solution based, and abstract qualities of design over the whimsical or storytelling aspects of illustration. To me the core of design is based on carving an image or object down to its elemental form to lets its message communicate as clearly as possible, without embelishments. I respect this effort tremendously.

I love color, its really my first instinct. Although often one does not get to work in color, so in that case I'd say negative space or composition.
