What is your favorite genre? Can you provide a link to a site where we can read some of your work or learn something about it?
My favorite genre is children's. http://www.CrystalMarcos.com
What is your creative process like? What happens before sitting down to write?
I usually am creating all day, different times of the day. If I am not physically writing, I have ideas and thoughts to further stories. I mainly write at night after my two year old has gone to bed. It does make for late nights sometimes.
What type of reading inspires you to write?
Reading in general inspires me, there are so many creative people out there that it is hard not to get inspired while you are reading!
What voice do you find most to your liking: first person or third person?
Honestly, whichever "person" fits the story. I enjoy reading and writing from both first or third person.
Do you participate in competitions? Have you received any awards?
My book was nominated for the 2010 CYBILS Awards. It was such an honor!
Winner of the 2011 Readers Favorite Silver Award in its category!
Do you share rough drafts of your writings with someone whose opinion you trust?
Yes, I share them with family members and a family friend. We are all very close and I trust their opinions.
Do you believe you have already found "your voice" or is that something one is always searching for?
I like to think that I found my voice, but sometimes voices change. =)
What do you surround yourself with in your work area in order to help your concentrate?
It has to be quiet when I am writing. Some of my popular writing places are in bed, at the kitchen table, or in my home office.
Do you write on a computer? Do you print frequently? Do you correct on paper? What is your process?
In my earlier years, I would only write on paper. Now, I almost always write using my laptop. I correct everything on the laptop too. There are many rounds of editing including friends, family, and a professional editor.
What sites do you frequent on-line to share experiences or information?
Linkedin Crystal Marcos
What are you working on now?
I am working on the sequel to BELLYACHE: A Delicious Tale called HEADACHE: The Hair-Raising Sequel to BELLYACHE. Very excited about it's release due out later this year.
What do you recommend I do with all those things I wrote years ago but have never been able to bring myself to show anyone?
Simple, show someone. Did you truly write it for only your eyes to read?
