CREATIVITY

How and why did you begin to be creative?

I started crafting with my mum at a very early age. She was a dressmaker and had me sewing and knitting

Your mind is your work tool. How do you take care of it?

Not as well as I should, but I like a good 8 hours sleep each night and take lots of vitamins.

How do you avoid repeating yourself, or falling into formula? How do you stay fresh?

There are new products entering my industry at all times to be creative with- these inspire different ideas and uses .

Do you have a ritual like retiring to a lonely place from time to time to cleanse your mind?

Generally I work 7 days a week so yes I become exhausted and drained and need to get away. I normally go somewhere hot as I love the heat. Spain or Egypt are my favourite locations to soak up the sun and relax.

Who have your teachers been?

I have taken inspiration from ladies that worked in this industry when I began- Suze Weinbergn ,Susan Rothamel, Maggie Wright - creative people that impacted my industry. During my training at college I was inspired by Kaffe Fasset , Zandra Rhodes and William Morrism

Have you ever had a job that was so stimulating that you could not get your mind off of it?

Anything I focus on in my career is always on my mind. I am kind off obsessive and always want to do my best.

"To give birth to ideas." Is this only an expression, or are there really parallels between giving birth and creativity?

Sometimes its hard to think up a new concept and it takes some time to get it right but its always thrilling to seen it come to fruition - from concept to the creation is a journey that's exciting.

Does spirituality contribute to your creativity?

Sometimes!

It is possible to fall in love with a bad idea simply because it is yours. How do you avoid this?

SGenerally by judging other others reactions to intitial concepts but thankfully I've experience little of this by knowing my customer base.

Declaration: With what person or business would you like to work?

Someone whom will allow me the Creative direction and they play the business role! I like to be absorbed in what I do and not worry about the finance.

Do you work well under pressure?

Yes, although I collapse in a heap afterwards

Ideas can come simultaneously to different people in different places with no connection to one another. How do you explain this phenomenon?

Its strange but this does seem to happen leaving you wondering if it has been leaked. I think trends are interpreted in different ways and become widespread quite quickly thoughm
