MEMOIRS
What is your earliest memory?
Standing in a large caged bed in the hospital crying...and the nurse wouldn't let me go to the bathroom....so I did..
Who were your childhood playmates? What did you play?
My brother, Hughey, Barbara, Stevie....we all builts forts out of snow....went sledding, broke into the playground to play, played street ball....cops and robbers.
What toys do you recall most fondly?
Barbie
What can you tell us about your family?
Mom cryed, Dad drank, Gramps difficult, brother never was home, Sister moved away after graduation and bragged about how good her life was.
What was primary school like? What teachers and classmates do you recall most vividly?
We all sat in rows....with a desk. Teachers were kept controll. I liked recess...so I didn't have to sit. I liked lunch but I hated the food. I was in Girl Scouts and the girls were all involved in it too.
What characters, famous people, or heroes did you identify with as a child?
I liked Haley Mills because she was perfect and I was so imperfect. I liked Roy Rogers and Dale Evens because they were nice. I liked American Bandstand alot.
How complicated was your transition to adulthood?
Since when was I child?
What can you tell us about your discovery of sex?
I don't remember.
Did you always know what you wanted to be? How did you discover your calling?
I always wanted to be a singer. I was was interested in the theater.
How many times have you found the love of your life? What about unrequited love?
I loved one man too much. I had to let go. He loved everyone and married 3 times.
What was your first job? How did your first work experience turn out?
My first job was wrapping presents at Christmas at the Economy Department Store. I did a good job....but I felt that I wasn't good enough.
What do you consider the most important projects or businesses you have been involved in.
I hosted a hair style show/auction....It was very successful.
Who have been the key people along your professional path; people who have believed in you and given you opportunities?
No one.
Cities, neighborhoods, and houses where you have lived: how have they marked the phases of your life?
The power of survival.....
Have you ever "come out of a closet" of some sort? What challenges have you had to overcome?
I was terribly shy....It wasn't until I was about 40 when I realized that it doesn't matter anymore.
What are the greatest successes and the major failures of your life?
The greatest success was graduating from college at 38 ( I went at night) and learning to play the organ. The biggest failure.....love.
In the lowest moments, what kept you afloat?
my sister....my rock.
What do you give thanks to life for? What do you think you have had good luck in, and what not?
I give thanks in life for....patience. There were so many times I was feeling torchured yet I managed to land on my feet. I have had good luck in getting a good job and being able to support myself...buy my own home and retire early.
What was the best time in your life?
Going on my first cruise in 1978...
If you write your memoirs someday, what will be the title?
Little Girl Alone.
What are the things that you definitely want to do before dying?
Go to China, Australia, African safari, and a cruise around the Antartic...
