WRITING
What did you first read? How did you begin to write? Who were the first to read what you wrote?
I have always been interested in a broad range of subjects, but my favorite genre's have always been romance and poetry.

I was about 15 and I started writing in creative writing class.

My family.
What is your favorite genre? Can you provide a link to a site where we can read some of your work or learn something about it?
My favorite genre is romance.

Yes, this is my main site link which will provide other links to my other websites.

What is your creative process like? What happens before sitting down to write?
That's a hard question to answer. I really don't have a "creative process" ideas just pop into my head and I start writing.

Not anything special. I just begin to write.
What type of reading inspires you to write?
I am mostly inspired by reading poetry; also Henry David Thoreau and Kahlil Gibran.
What do you think are the basic ingredients of a story?
I think you should be able to transport your reader into the story.
What voice do you find most to your liking: first person or third person?
I like to use both in my writing.
What well known writers do you admire most?
Henry David Thoreau, Kahlil Gibran, Edgar Allan Poe, Kate Chopin, Jack London. The list is just way too long.
What is required for a character to be believable? How do you create yours?
Substance.
I don't really create my characters, they create me. They take control of my mind, my soul and my life until they have life and soul of thier own.
Are you equally good at telling stories orally?
No, I am a very shy person and I let my writing do the talking for me.
Deep down inside, who do you write for?
My family and friends.
Is writing a form of personal therapy? Are internal conflicts a creative force?
Of course, I write a lot about life which is good therapy for me.
I believe it is. You can't be a good writer without it.
Does reader feed-back help you?
Yes, it makes me want to improve on my work. I look forward to constructive criticism.
Do you participate in competitions? Have you received any awards?
I do. I enjoy that aspect of writing. I have won awards for my poetry.
Do you share rough drafts of your writings with someone whose opinion you trust?
Yes, my family and some of my friends.
Do you believe you have already found "your voice" or is that something one is always searching for?
No, do you ever? I am always searching for my other voices.
What discipline do you impose on yourself regarding schedules, goals, etc.?
I try to not get distracted and shut myself in my room with my computer. I am bad about procrastinating and that's something I have to work on.
What do you surround yourself with in your work area in order to help your concentrate?
I don't have anything around my work area that would be a distraction.
Do you write on a computer? Do you print frequently? Do you correct on paper? What is your process?
I use my computer mainly now, but still use paper and make correction on both.
What sites do you frequent on-line to share experiences or information?
Roundtable on the ning network, myspace, faithwriters.
What has been your experience with publishers?
I have had both negative and postive. I think that that just comes with being a writer.
What are you working on now?
I am working on several projects.

"The Penny Collector" a fiction work about life in the ghetto and Vietnam.
"Demons and Detectives" a paranormal romance.
"Sammy Snail" a collection of children's fiction books.

And I am always working on my poetry collections.
What do you recommend I do with all those things I wrote years ago but have never been able to bring myself to show anyone?
Go for it. I was like that, I let my writing stay buried in a box for years and then one day I knew that writing is always meant to be shared. Never be afraid of what other's might say, if you are blessed with the talent to write then you must share that talent.
