What do you do? How do you define yourself as an artist?

i been doing arts since i was ? i dont even remember but i was a kid ..i got natural skils ,,i guess //iam a graffic designer ..wich i studied the carrier in exico city //and to be honest ..i didnt finish the carrier ..but ..since then on ..ia a sculptor ..basically i taught my self .i a welder and i like to work all kind of materials..clay ..metal pieces....i guess there isnt any material that i dont like to work with //then one day like 8 years ago lli started to do paintings ..then i became a painter //people like very much my style ///also i was always attracted to do photography ..so i became a photographer ..my photos are .and amaizing example that how photography can be done in //lets say not in a normal way ..you will see /defining my as an artist //it hard to say ..i guess is something that we artist,,have very inside of our souls ..ans we are proyecting the joy of expression and communication trought ...colors .shapes ..forms ..sorry my spelling im originally from brazil ..i grew up in chile and mexico..i always say to people im not an artist im just somebody that likes to play with the freedom of colors and shapes ..//

What is your message?

my message to ??? to the world to the people ..i guess first that all that ..it is very hard to stand out in the whole planet .like an artist ..and im very aware that ..art goes totally with the hand ...of our deepest dreams ..talking about subcounssesnes ...images are powerful //like words ..//ym message to the peolpe that is able to see what i do ..is i guess very cosmic ///sometimes is necesary to remember to look up in to the cosmos //and realized that //there is so much out there ..that why dont even know //i because //we are part of something and ..nothing else ..// so in a few word my message is ...we are dreaming all the same big dream called cosmic illution...

Your biography in four lines.

deimoz lorenzo /i was born in sao paulo ..1968 lived in chile..when i was ia kid ..then we have to oved out of the country ..because the civil war in chile ..

i grew up part of my life in mexico city ..there is where i felt this craving for doing sculptures .made out of what ever ..doing robots with radios etc..then i studied graphic designer carrier //never work for anybody //i guess there is where i got improved my skills for to be a painter //i do also do desing /write poetry //musician drummer /drum kit ..and guitar player //

about photography..it is hard to explain i i got this idea ..of something called the circus of the bugs ..where little insect are the main subjet in the photo ....i took them to my studio i fed them ..pampered ..and work with them .in a bug..the photos are amaizing pretty ..almost nowbody have seen them..

Do you upload your work to the web? If so, where could we see it?

yes i did but ..im so bad with computers that i was just able to made a blog /and also a picasa web album ..to be honest im afraid of people stilling my images from internet ..//that is something that i really want to be shure ..to work in my reserved rights ..

How is an idea born? For you, what is inspiration?

i guess they come from out of space like being channeled //it hard to say ..they are several factors that can influence an idea for to be inspirated ,,sometimes to hook up with a beautiful lady ..i could be an amaizing source of inspiration ..//for my self sometimes is very diferent how inspiration comes ..the idea come to a part of the mind where is a kind of processor ..then goes to an image ..then goes to a concrete ..materialize the idea //sketching it//or over the process
you can have several ideas that can change the idea ..is like when you are painting who tells you that is done ..something inside just says stop .. ..

also i bealeve that is very important for a creative person //that in some way youare getting feedback //the money part unfortunately goes with it ..i wonder how many artist do art with out the idea in mind of selling the piece ..or how much am i going to get ..for me sorry money is a big destructive ingridient..thats why the world is in the way it is //going down

What role does technology play in your creative process?

i guess it does ..since we are becoming more ..in to it // i dont how good it could be in long terms i dont know but i guess for me .it.should help me ..of course knowing how things work it is important ,,in another way i guess we are ff///

is what ever kind of expression ..that allow us us to proyect a feeling or an idea //i guess so?

When do you get your best ideas?

when im in love /motivated and feeling one with the world

How do you evaluate whether an idea is good or not?

like i said in my case it works like a processor..there is something that tell me .if i like it somebody else is going to like it ..they are many tastes ,and way to be ..but if i like it people like it jeje

Three creative ideas that you would have liked to have created?

i love for example to make sculptures on the rocks next to the ocean..they get splash .and sea life goes over it

would have liked to have created /im not death yet sorry but i will do those one day
put some funny robots sculptures in a place where divers could see them in the bottom of the ocean

When and how did you begin to see yourself as an artist?

i just did in the begining for my own fun ..with out realizing that it was something that people could apricciate ..it is like a process ..that i didnt even realized ,,but i guess iam one //iam not an artist i just like to play with shapes and colors

Why do so many artists and creators have such volatile personalities?

because they are mad with the reality of the world //how fuck ed up it is //we need to understand that we artist ..are not 100 per cent in this world .in some way.. we are dreaming awake //and i could be a conflict ..we should ask this question to a psiquiatric ..ok

Do you consider yourself postmodern?

no i consider my self cosmic is anew kind of art cosmic art

How should a work of art be evaluated?

that is a question for a art seller ..or somebody that is totally in to it ...personally i beleave that art is to relative in terms of apricciation ..sometimes i dont get it ..one famous.. painter itcould sell a line painted on a canvas for a lot ...and somebody that knowbody knows .can have a beutiful painting ..nowbody cares ..it is a very tricky point..i dont know ..and sometimes i guess there isso much crapy art..sorry ups..that is expensive

Must an artist reinvent him/herself everyday?

depends of what terms //like a person ..like a creative mind//i guess.. yes but isnt easy //when sales are low //mosty if you are trying to make a living out of art ..hard hard

Which artists do you admire and how do they influence your work?

i like dali //because he was extravant and crazy ..i admire myself ..if i dont throw flowers to me how does ..

What do you think about public funding for the arts?

i cant understand so many things about society ..that makes me sometimes //just a shame to be a person ..part of society ..of course .it is necessary

expression is necessary ..to feed the soul..and mind ..to break free from many thing that kept us just in low states of counssesness ..

Does it pain you to let go of a piece you have sold?

yes in some way .it does //but just the idea of knowing that is going to be in somebodys wall ..makes me feel unattached to it ..in a good pace

Is a work of art purchased, or is it better said, that it is the artist who is bought?

In art, there is no guide. How do you know what the next step is?

good question i never now i combine ..when i dont feel paint .i do sculpture ..if not photo ..and if my mood is not in arts i do something diferent ...

How do you feel about the fact that the pieces exhibited in contemporary art museums are often of artists already deceased?

thats the point //it is so weird //i dont knoe to die make them inmortal in another way ..i dont get this one ..//

What role have the figures of art dealer, gallery owners, representatives, and intermediaries in general played in your career?

not much ..i havent shown my art enought yet to meet somebody ..ike that i had an agent ..but didnt work because she was ..not totally focus in my stuff ..but my work easily could be shown in any galleries ..

What types of jobs do you usually do?

job talking about art ...i do photography not in regular way is called dream photography //my painting sometimes are animals //trees clowns i dont have any particular theme i paint all.//.about. sculpture //robots //i havent done any sculpture in awhile ..i have to show it .it hard to describe by writing //is cosmic

Which of your jobs or tasks do you most enjoy?

so far i dont know ..fixing bikes ..dont understand question my work or my art work never mind

Do you personally collect any items?

i used to do it when i lived in mexico ..here in usa i dont have space but i l;ove stuff in general

not many really iam not a comp person just where i have my art

What advice would you give to those just beginning?

its a long road full of curves and steep ways ..focus on what you want an do it
