BLOGGING
What is your blog address? What subjects do you deal with? Read my blog at www.denaedarcy.com. I write about day to day life in the tv business and my personal life. Topic range from journalistic integrity to gardening and book reviews.
What was it that made you create your blog? On what date did you start it? My first blog, www.blondacrossthepond.com was created as a way to stay in touch with friends and family when I moved to London to earn my Master's degree.
What blogging system have you adopted and why? I use Blogger because it is the easiest format for me.
How many visits a day do you get? What type of comments do you receive? My visitors usually comment on posts to share a similar experience or advice. I don't know how many visitors I get in a day. I really should be keeping track.
How has 'having a blog' contributed to your life? Having a blog is a great way to chronicle life. I often "search" my blog when I need to recall the details about a special event.
Have you created relationships with other bloggers or readers of your blog? Yes, I follow blogs to stay up-to-date on what my readers are doing in their own lives.
How often do you post? Does regular posting of your blog require a lot of effort on your part? Keeping a blog interesting means posting often. I try to post at least three times a week. At one point, I was posting every day and that's when I was the happiest with my blog.
Does blogging bring in income for you? Can one make a living from posting? Making a living by blogging is not easy. I have never sold ad space on my blog. While I would love to earn a living this way, I don't think it is possible unless a writer has a large reader base.
How do you promote your blog? I sometimes promote my blog by posting a link on Facebook or Twitter.
How would you define your readers? Have you got a faithful audience? My readers are mostly women, some with their own blogs. I look forward to their comments and those who post do so regularly.
Are there any blogs you follow daily or regularly?
Have you ever received gifts for blogging about your opinion of products or services? What do you think of bloggers who do that? Bloggers who get gifts or products for blogging a review have every right to do so. I think they need to be careful to be honest about it. I have never received compensation for a blog post.
How do you see your blog evolving in the future? In the future, my blog will contain more interaction with readers hopefully. I would also like to update the design template.
What advice would you give to someone who wishes to begin a blog? Don't over-think your posts. Post often and make the entries short.
