Interview with:Elle Wilson [ellewilson98]
WRITING
What did you first read? How did you begin to write? Who were the first to read what you wrote? I first began to write in middle school. I got finished my work early and instead of disrupting the class (like I usually would by talking to my friends) I started writing a play. And then I let a couple of my classmates read the pages and they started asking me, what was going to happen next. So, I kept writing.
What is your favorite genre? Can you provide a link to a site where we can read some of your work or learn something about it? My favorite genre is the rom/com. Although most stories from this genre tend to be formulaic and predictable, I love the journey of getting there. Here's my dating blog: http://datinglessonslearned.blogspot.com/
What type of reading inspires you to write? Non-fiction
What well known writers do you admire most? Maya Angelou, Nikki Giovanni, Sonia Sanchez, Saul Williams, Shakespeare, August Wilson, Lorraine Hansbery, Hemingway
Are you equally good at telling stories orally? It depends on how much pressure I'm under to tell it quickly. I tend to be longwinded...
Is writing a form of personal therapy? Are internal conflicts a creative force? Absolutely. I am faithful to my journal. It keeps me sane. Internal and external conflicts are welcome in my pages.
Does reader feed-back help you? Yes - I love to know what people responded to in what I write.
What discipline do you impose on yourself regarding schedules, goals, etc.? Still working on the discipline.
What are you working on now? I'm working on a screenplay and a pilot, in addition to my monthly blog.
What do you recommend I do with all those things I wrote years ago but have never been able to bring myself to show anyone? A- finish them. B - get feedback.
