As for the last idea scenario----
I believe that all work of someone's is good and the person has taken time to do it properly, then there is no bad work. We are all critical of our work. Your last idea is a part of your body of work, and all of it needs to be considered, not just what is current. Because all of it makes up the entire person. If you are looking at one idea then you are missing something of that person that they have already shown.
