Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Sigma, Olympus, Sony, Pentax...which do you place your bets on and why?

I use Nikon gear. I also use lenses from Tamron. I could just as easily own Canon. I use Nikon as a matter of accident as much as anything. My favorite lens is not a Nikon, but a Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 VC. A very sharp lens that has great performance properties. My second favorites are both Nikon lenses. I absolutely love the shallow DOF of Nikons 50mm AF 1.4 and the stellar imagery of the 70-200mm VR f/2.8.
As to the other brands, they all offer some great options, but currently Nikon and Canon are the systems that are the most flexible and reliable.
Sony is getting there, though they really need to get the noise issue taken care of. If there was an adapter that I could buy to use my Nikon lenses with the Sony Bodies, I might consider their 850 full frame for landscape work where I never go above ISO 400.
Fuji seems to be abandoning the DSLR market, so they are pretty much out. A shame, they had some really cool cameras based on the Nikon bodies. Pentax, Olympus and Panasonic have interesting stuff, but availability in our area is very limited.
