It depends on the mental state of a person. Its said a disease is half cured if a person believes that practicing a particular procedure with cure him/her. If a person believes in mind that by practicing a superstition he/she may be cured, despite no conclusive prove that the particular superstition is effective in dealing with a disease or symptom; the person may start thinking him/herself as cured if someone tells them that practicing a superstition was beneficial for them. For example, fish medicine given by the Bethany family of Hyderabad, India to asthma patients over a period of 4 yrs is said to cure people of asthma, but scientific research has not found any conclusive proof to support that claim. |
