In my last year of university (B.Mus, composition) I won two first prizes in the SOCAN Young Composer's Competition (SOCAN is the Society of Composer's Author's and Music Publishers - Canada's version of ASCAP) for a work for three flutes (Chamber Music Category) and a piece for solo violin (works for solo or duo). One year later I received a third place prize for a piece for solo piccolo.
My music has been performed widely, including having been commissioned for the first season of the Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival (piece for Cello & Piano), and a work for viola soloist Rivka Golani. While I was at McGill University I was invited to have a piece performed on the faculty composer's concert - a concert that featured the music of the faculty of McGill, not any of the students. |
