Most publishers are nice people who try to be helpful, but they have a narrow market focus. Usually, a book released by a major publishing house never earns any money beyond the advance they pay to the author, even though publishers have many resources for publicity and distribution.

I have been using Create Space as my pubisher because they never charge me any fees, they list my books on Amazon, and they never require me to purchase any books (except one proof copy). Also, I keep all of the rights to my work.
