Not necessarily. Maybe sometimes they could focus on needs and wants rather then something that they hope is cool and would be a hit. The way I've been molded a bit to is that it would probably only be a waste if the business quit the unsuccessful project rather then reinventing it in another way. Lot's of people fail, the most failure stories I hear of is from people that have succeeded from trial and error.
