Not so much a technique, but a method of learning. You should always be seeing with photography in mind, even when there isnt a camera in your hand. Watch movies with an eye to photography, cut out ads in magazines, examine what your contemporaries are doing and try to figure out what they did, and how you would do it differently. Then, more important than the thought experiments, is getting to a studio, location, or whatever and practicing those ideas. Practice until, when the client's money is on the line, it comes naturally and quickly and effortlessly. |
