Each song must mean something to the person who created it, it's important to have a story behind each song.
If you don't express your feelings through your songs, I don't think it's worth being part of the music business, after all if you don't feel anything with your own music it'll be hard for other people to understand and feel your music.
So that would be my advice for anyone starting out.
