Some of the first books I can remember were the Griffin Pirate stories ( a UK reading scheme) - there were pirates, dragons and mermaids. I loved them.
I wrote as a child on my Dad's secretary's typewriter when she wasn't using it and Auntie Shirley Robinson and my Dad were some of my first readers.
