Very varied. Some are charming, some are horrendous, some want very little alteration and some seem to want a completely different book. But I think they've all done their best. More often than not, if an editor wants a change, the one they suggest doesn't work - then one has to find a third alternative which more often than not works out better than the original or the editor's suggestion.
