Since I am a fulltime student, Dad and husband, the trick is finding time for writing. But when I do have time, the process generally works like this: For poetry, I try writing out a few lines or key words and then work it out from there. For Journalism, I plot out where I want the story to go and the sources I want to cover. Then I follow through. For fiction, I start with a story idea, then work out the characters and then outline chapter by chapter. Then I begin the actual writing. When the writing just flows out of me, it's the greatest feeling the world! |
