Watching Kneehigh Theatre's "Tristan and Yseult" inspired me greatly; it really brought home what you can do with the medium of theatre and the different energy levels actors can bring to their performances. Also watching Ulrich Muhe in "The Lives of Others" was a lesson in screen acting, and the subtleties that can be achieved as you watch somebody's thoughts change.
