WRITING

What did you first read? How did you begin to write? Who were the first to read what you wrote?

Whohub

The first books I remember reading are from the Ladybird series, and things like The Red Dragon, and The Green Pirate. Later on I loved all the Brer Rabbit stories, then got into Roald Dahl and Gerald Durrell.

From a young age I enjoyed writing adventure stories, but it was only in my thirties that I had enough experience to write full-blown novels. The urge to write came from a love of reading and the amazing effect it can have on the human imagination.

The first thing I had published was at the age of 11. It was a small piece about a school trip to Switzerland that got into the local paper.
