I live on an island that is a 15 minute ferry ride to the mainland and I've lived there since I was 1, the creative atmosphere around me when I was growing up was enough to inspire me to become an artist.
I'm actually quite young in comparison to other people doing this interview, I just turned 20 this year though I often feel so much older than my actual age probably because of all the experiences that have happened to me in my life.
Next year I'll be going to TAFE to study Visual Arts for a year and then I'll be applying to go to Uni. I plan on being an art teacher.
It took me a long time to decide what I wanted to "be", I just knew I really wanted it to be something to do with art though I couldn't see what. There really is a stigma in this community that says: "You can't make it as an artist, you'll never have money, you'll never be successful" and that can really put a young person off, but I finally saw that as long as I was doing something I loved I'd be happy. So I basically joined two things I'd always loved: learning and art; and made them one. | | |
