|What measures do you take to protect your work against Internet piracy?
Embedded megadata and firewalls.
I have a copyright logo
I never upload a high res file on a website, pirats can play a 72 dpi image if they like it, I do not mind.
At present...... None!
Using Flash sites as well as embedding all of my images with hidden watermarks
I never put an image online that is very large. Not much you can do against internet piracy.
@notice on any of my images online
register images with the copyright office if they are to be published
use ImageReady to prepare images before putting them online.
The quality falls apart if anyone tries to print them.
I check who hits my page and research frequent visitors. When I find someone using an image improperly online I contact them to remove the image, so far everyone has or they paid a licensing fee.
I do not post important work on the web.
To protect I embed my copyright in all my images.
Do not put any large images on the net. 72 to 96 file size is ok. There is no protection that will actually work. When someone views an image, the entire website gets put into the Temporary files which do not get deleted until you delete them so anyone can review those files & see all the pics & icons used on that website & copy at will. Google already has taken all the images for its directory by saying it is free use as a library. I have had my images show up in blogs without my permission. No one thinks about copying an image that is not theirs, they see it so it must be free.....copyright doesn't enter their heads.
That is why I have a limited amount of images on my site.
only put up low resolution images.
Low res images
None really other than watermarks, if someone wants to use your work they will always find away. I personally feel that we always borrow someones elses ideas and integrate them into our own work. If your work is good enough people will be prepared to give credit and buy the original, as I do.
The Blond told me to say something about low-res pictures that copy and print out very badly.
