Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Sigma, Olympus, Sony, Pentax...which do you place your bets on and why?
Well, back when I was a serious photographer, I always had a Canon SLR. Now I have a Sony Cyber-Shot that I'm totally happy with except that it has no depth of field. Or I haven't figured out how to override the automatic exposure system so I can stop it down.
I love my Pentax K-7 digital SLR and my Holga and Slim Angel film cameras.
I'm a die-hard Canon user, but would prefer to shoot only Leica. Maybe someday.
It doesn't matter. A camera is a box with a button I use to make pictures.
Have used Canon in the past, now though my preference is for Pentax. Like the product and it suits my current requirements.

I don't play that gear game. But to answer the question I'd say that One of the "big two" based purely on volume of sales. So either Canon or Nikon in the dSLR market.
In the emerging mirrorless market I think Olympus is a ground breaking company and would like to see them in the lead.
Nikon, they work for me because they are really tough

I'm a Nikon / Sigma guy. :) The Nikon cameras feel right in my hands and I love the quality and value that I get out of my Sigma lens.
5d Mark II is a great camera for me. Reliable full frame which works flawless with many lenses producing most efficient outcomes. For cmercial use though there is Pentax and Hasselblad. Im still Hassesl even with its price tag in consideration.
I couldn't care less. And I'm not trying to be trendy by saying that. Hardware is VERY important to me. People who pretend that they don't care about the hardware they use to execute their profession bug me to no end. However, I am more interested in the hardware itself, not the brand behind it. I am excited about the future of commercial photography. Who brings us there is both beyond my control and beyond my attention span. I guess I'm rooting for Nikon, Mamiya, and Leaf/Phase One because I've poured a significant amount of my limited personal worth into those products.
