What do you try to express through your photography?

Whohub

I was brought up in the old Hawaiian way so I try to bring those values to whatever I do. Whether I'm on a commercial assignment or shooting something for an upcoming show. I try to respect people and be aware of the places that I go to. And let the artistic side of it come through. Is it honest, are you being true to your client, are you being true to your yourself?

I try to express a true story of "A day in the life" of two individuals who have choosen to take their relationship to another level. The emotion of the day, from the tear in a mothers eye to the spontaneous things that occur, the beauty of the surroundings. The detail behind the scenes kind of things that won't be remembered 20 -30 years away.

Express? Good question, I think that all I am trying to achieve is a result that I am personally happy with. Its all about me, and I don't think I am trying to express love, lust, life, or tell a story of societies influence on future ecological diversity. Sorry you asked?

A good photographer should be able to utilize his or her creativity in order to satisfy both the client and him or herself.

I look for what I like to call the "wow" factor.

My work is a celebration of childhood.

I try not to think too much during a shoot - I plan meticulously beforehand but during the shoot I go with the flow. I express my creativity obviously but it all depends on what type of shoot it is - advertising photography usually is quite strict to match the art directors vision although I always attempt to add that something extra, wedding photography is all about capturing the moment and making the bride and grooms day memorable and capturing the true emotion. The list is endless depending on what you are photographing.

Flavor or taste. the flavor of life and a taste for the finer things. My clients message.

My view of the world and the soul of the client.

I try to elicit an emotional response to my work. A connection that is made with the viewer.

I try mainly to express the beauty of life, it's simplicity and awe. I often photograph things that most people overlook, or take for granted, to remind people of those things and create a record. Sometimes I like to express humor too. I like photographing living things, from pets to birds, to people. You can see more of my attitude to my work at www.livingpictures.org/paulsmyres.htm

A varied style of looks and ethnic backgrounds. The lens sees what I want it too.

I am looking for your soul, who you are, the person's essence.

I try to elicit an emotional response to my work. A connection that is made with the viewer.
