For how long have you done photography? How did you begin?
I've always loved taking pictures of my kids growing up, but I never got serious until an editor contacted me about four years ago about doing a cooking column in the local newspaper. To make my recipes come alive, I began photographing whatever I featured.
I've been a photographer for 33 years. I began doing very basic photojournalism to accompany stories I wrote for the local newspapers.
since i was 12 i have been dressing up my friends and making them pose under trees or in goalie nets or knee deep in raveens and taking shots with my mom's camera. now i am all grown up, but really my style hasn't changed at all.
I studied photography in a TAFE in Perth, Western Australia in 1978. Since then I have continued to work in the field, and exhibit my work locally, nationally and internationally. I began by running a small photographic gallery.
I've been doing it professionally for about 4 years now. Started off on car forums, just being intrigued by how some guys were taking pics of their cars, i wanted to do it too! lol
as a business, a year. as a hobby, many years. i began by doing, and i learn more everyday. it's an experience.
I was roughly 20yrs old when I started. I was a model and I was intrigued by what the photographers achieved

I've been fascinated by cameras and photography since I was three. I loved playing with my little camera and looking through National Geographic magazines.
I've decided to go pro when I was 14, and I don't know how the interest came, it just did.
Hmm... 2 years maybe.. I started because I love this world. Thats why I do nature photgraphy

I was doing photography for as long as I can remember myself having a camera :)
At first it was just as a hobby. I am an artist, so for me, expressing myself through paintings and pictures, is a very normal thing.
I started from taking pictures of places I've been visiting and received a very positive reaction from all my friends and family, then I've been asked to take pictures at a few birthday parties, then corporate events and after that I was referenced as a "person to talk to" if they needed pictures taken :)
I have a passion for photography. I love make people smile. If I see you being happy with the result – I feel like I did my job :)
It hit a point in elementary school I think? Where I was trying to get this 'mega shot' at a circus, and I actually got it, and got praised for it... I figured I was good and was actually contently surprised and intrigued. Since then it's been an interest and I just do whatever by my rules. Another hobby.
I have been taking snapshots since I was in my late twenties after my daughter was born. The reason I started was because I realized how few photographs of my childhood actually existed. So, I decided that I would document my daughter's life in a big way.
I didn't get serious until about 5 years ago when I bought my first DSLR. I created a few nice landscape photographs, by accident, and realized that there was more to photography than just point and shoot.
So, I've spent the last 4 or 5 years studying, studying, studying. I also study other photographer work daily. I've taken thousands of photos, but only a few that I'm willing to put out for others to see. That's just my character, but I'm working on it! |
