How do you feel when friends or family ask for your help in solving domestic computer problems?

I am the resident expert and I find this fulfilling.
I do not like explaining to someone how fix the same problem more than once however. That just tells me they did not pay attention the 1st time.

sometimes it gets annoying as everything needs to be toned down a bit or explained more than once

A tough one this, my family and are still of the opinion that I'm in I.T and therefore should know all the answers to common computer problems, network and driver issues etc. It's true to say that I know more than most but I find the questioning and expectations quite frustrating as these days I'm really just a computer user. When I worked predominantly with Windows PC's I would have far more I.T level skills but now that I work with Macs I really don't ever get involved with them beyond the application I'm using. Truth of the matter is they just work!

People, luckily for me, go to my husband for these things because he actually works a help desk job!

Happy to help as long as I don't miss dinner, or that movie I've been waiting for.

Feel proud that they consider me to be qualified enough to solve their computer problems.

It's ok. I like helping out, especially since most of it is easy stuff. Even if it's not, I like spending an hour or two solving domestic computer problems.

Actually, I hate this situation. They can solve every problem using google but they preferred to ask me.

It depends on the problem. I'm happy to help if they're willing to learn how to help themselves the next time. I don't like to be fixing the same thing repeatedly.

One time, I was in their situation too. I act nicely and help them if I can.

I actually really enjoy fixing computer problems for friends and family. I love problem solving, so working out exactly how they did so much damage to their computers is quite engaging for me.

A little out of my depth because the skills involved in doing this are not the same as those needed for writing software. Luckily, very often the problems I'm presented with are not very deep.

I don't do hardware. I don't do Windows. That rules out almost all domestic computer issues.

Proud!

Abit frumpy usually because most of the problems are usually caused by their inability to practice safe surfing despite me telling them repeatedly to be more careful
