JOURNALISM

To you, what is objectivity?

Whohub

The ability to approach information with an open, sceptical mind.

Objectivity is to hear as many version as possible. Though a journalist shouldn't afraid to put his/her opinion based on his/her own knowledge

Objectivity to me is where one is impartial to either side of the story, more specifically to the gaming industry, looking at it neutrally. Whether that be the games, the companies, the market or the consumers, being objective is the best skill to have - everyone looks out for it and adds credibility.

To do that 100% is definitely hard but not impossible. We all have our own definitions of objectivity and so we act accordingly to our own.

Similar to CSI type scientists, following the facts only creates objectivity. Sometimes actions are motivated by money, ideology, or simple vanity. I do also provide commentary on my website of a pro-U.S. Constitution perspective, in addition to sharing news stories that usually get little airplay by major media, sometimes even FOX News.

A basic tenet of journalism

If you are trying to stay objective as a journalist in this day, it is extremely commendable. The country has been divided by politics and religion and it is hard to find a centrist journalist who can deliver the information in a fair and balanced manner. Opinions are now often treated as fact and there is very little common ground between the left and the right.

For me objectivity is letting your prejudices aside and realize that you are there to deliver a story and not your own opinions.

Being objective means covering a topic without any bias from the writer, especially in the field of investigatory journalism, but it is not exclusive to that field only.

something that is non existent

To me , objectivity is the pure state of credibility. When one is impartial to any kind of information or any kind of business. When there's objectivity media would be a better world. Unfortunately we lack this kind of honesty.

Objectivity is maintaining a 'balance' in any subject and presenting the facts, without malice, or prejudice and without taking sides.

Facts beyond ego

Objectivity is a really difficult concept to define, mainly cause is not an universal concept and it can differ individually.
Personally, I think that objectivity is deliver news and information without filter it through your own ideas and concept.
This process, considering that the input is received by the journalist and processed through his mind, is not simple, and sometimes, even great journalists, are doing it without realize it.

It is reporting freely without being biased because of your personal feelings, beliefs or frame of reference. Sticking to the facts and presenting them as FACTS, presenting opinions as opinions

There is no objectivity. At best, you're transparent about your biases.

objetividade - é usar a sinceridade em qualquer assunto e não tentar enganar as pessoas, apenas para agrada-las. jornalismo sem verdade, não é jornalismo, é comedia.

Objectivity is not letting your own experiences or frame of reference influence the way you portray a story to a reader. In journalism, we are exposed to different cultures, experiences and perspectives. You have found a good and objective journalist if you can't tell his political, religious and philosophical points of view are.
