Does the public buy the product or the product image?
Perception is reality, initially the public buys into the product image, they only keep buying it however if the product is good.
I assume you are speaking not in the physical sense...I think most people buy image.
A U joking? Image!
The product fills a need, the image fulfills a want.
I don't think you can seperate the two.
Well maybe like this: when the public buy garbage bags they buy the product, when they by a Ferrari they buy the image.
Depends heavily on the market segment. But mostly, it's the same thing.
Maybe the packaging or image very affect for public,, but my opinion is don't look book from the cover but the content.
Depends on the category of the product (or service).
For example, when it comes to something healthcare related, it is usually more about the product offering & the parent company image.
People buy brands pure and simple. The product is a large part of the purchase, but the brand behind the product is just as important.
Good branding + good product = sales
Good branding + bad product = no sales
All of the branding in the world can not help a bad product. Bottom line: it has to deliver on the brand promise. The product image is only a part of that promise.
When you buy a glass, all you are looking for is a comfortable drink of water.
When you set out from home to buy a Wedgwood dinner service, the story is different,
both. it's impossible to create separation among 5 senses
The public buys both. They want a good product in which owning that product makes people think positive thoughts about them.
For most product categories consumers are emotionally engaged by the brand before they buy the products.
we life in the image world. anyone buy images, cars, girlsfriends, travels... all by the image
That depends on who's buying. Did you get your handbag at Target or Hermes?
The higher end brands evoke the image as well as the product. They still have to deliver on a superior product.
It depends on the public. Some individulas seek social apreciation and choose better the product image and others seek the utility of the product so they buy it for its inherent qualitites. The first buying decission is based on emotional reason whereas the other one is based on rational reason.
