My clients. I work for myself as a freelance so technically, I don't have a boss. My friends have no idea what I do for a living and my mother loves me unconditionally.
When the ad pleases me AND my client...and then becomes the winner.
Client. A happy client means that I'm doing my job well, which makes me happy. Then that in turn makes me much more pleasant to be around. :)
Back when I used to have a boss, I rather liked it when he was unsure but the client's loved it. Mom liked everything, she just liked saying that was my commercial on TV (magazines, billboards, etc.)
Although one almost always* needs to satisfy the client... today its pleasing me that brings the most satisfaction.
*I say almost always because sometimes clients are just wrong. I don't care if they're always supposed to be right or that they're paying for it. Wrong is wrong and sometimes you have to "fire" the client. Though I don't reccommend taking that stand too often.

That’s easy, when it pleases me. It is impossible to make everyone happy, so as long as I am completely happy with the ad, the project goal is met and I did not have to compromise my ethics or integrity, I am happy. Then my client, as long as I brought business to the business, the boss really stays out of the picture.

The greatest satisfaction any professional should get is when the advertising delivers or exceeds the results that were expected.
A home run is when the client takes time to contact you, to say how much they love their commercial, or that they are getting such a great response to our campaign.
None of the above. It's most important that an advert please it's intended audience: THE CONSUMER.
