What brings you the most satisfaction: when your advert pleases your boss, your client, your friends, or your mother?
Client
None of the above. I seek self satisfaction. And the client's happiness (and a brand's success) is what determines the level.
I do artworks for my clients, not for me or my mother
HA! Definitely the client!
But I have found that generally my clients are happy when the project pleases and influences others that they are trying to reach.
Years ago I voiced an infomercial for MagnaDuster - a home cleaning device. A few weeks after the ad broke I was visiting my parents in another state. I saw a MagnaDuster in Mom's kitchen. I asked her where she got it. She told me she had bought it off of TV and she loved it. She had no clue I was the voice!
My point is that a successful project is the combination of everything involved in it. No one thing causes the success. It's the synergy of the process that makes it work. That, to me, is the most satisfying to watch.
When my advert pleases my client.
When it pleases people that don't know me.
Client
When a happiness which I see on their faces with a growing smile...only after then I gets my full of satisfaction
I can honestly say it's nice when the boss likes my work, but we are very different in our creative advertising way of thinking. He prefers tried and true and I rely on custom solutions to fit each client's industry, event, budget, theme, and target audience. I don't try to impress friends or family, so those are out.
My goal is to get that "wow" factor from my clients. I love when they present me with an open ended project but just now they want that perfect item. When I get that "this is perfect" reaction from a customer I feel as those I helped them find the missing piece to a puzzle and it's especially exciting when they tell me after their event how successful it was.
I hate to say it. But going home proud of my own work. Which is next to never. It took me three years to like some award winning work I did once. I have to be happy with it. That way I keep pushing myself further
When the advert pleases its TG both emotionally and functionally. PERIOD.
When my client walks away satisfied and happy about the work I've done, that brings me the greatest joy. Knowing I did exactly what they wanted and the results were right on the mark, that is the summation of everything I work towards.
none of the above.
The consumers.
I am a people-pleaser, so naturally I would have to say everyone. It's good to make the boss happy, but it's also much more important for the client to love what you have provided. Hey, it's also nice when you can tell your friends that you were part of that great campaign they hear/see everywhere.
When it pleases the clients of my client. |
