What brings you the most satisfaction: when your advert pleases your boss, your client, your friends, or your mother?
My client. Of course, I would need internal clearance from my boss to be able to release creative materials for presentation but ultimately it is Client who will give me the most satisfaction.

I'm a people pleaser, I'm enthusiastic about my clients and I'm always inspired by the creativity that comes out of my coworkers. This combination results in campaigns that that excite my boss, clients, friends and family. Did I mention that I'm a people pleaser?
When it makes the cash registers tinkle
When we have taken the master creative from the lead ad agency and have adapted it for delivery across a number of media in a number of countries and our client comes back and says "great job" then I'm happy.

I love it when my work engages people, is sort out, recognised and discussed, because it makes a difference. I gain no satisfaction from an ad recognised solely because of its heavy repetition from a large media spend.
When our advert pleases people and put more revenue on your books.
When it pleases me
The most satisfaction comes from going beyond having a happy client like the ad. That's a good start. It means the ad will see the light of day.
The real satisfaction comes from having the client call and say, "Wow, we're kicking ass with that campaign. It's really working!"
A nice boost in unaided brand awareness, fueled by independent research, is also a feel-good.
The ideal situation is to please them all, but this is imposible. I would like to please my mother and make her proud of myself, to please my friends and be confident with what I am doing, to please my boss and get some appreciation, but whom i like to please the most is the client. He is the one who invest money in the campaign in order to get some visible results, and the one who takes the final decission for releasing a new idea/campaign. Even though, sometimes, if you don't please your boss, you cannot reach the client :) |
