How do you sell yourself? What has been your experience with record companies and representatives?
We work in an Interdependent way, without companies or representatives, but in Ushuaia is very complicated the selling of music, as well as it is in all Argentina.
Our work is sell by ourselves.
I dont have any experience with record companies yet but I would say right now my focus is on building a strong fanbase by delivering free music and trying to perform as much as I can.
I see myself as a person who wants to do it in his way, it is my music and I want to keep it that way.
we do all of our own promotion, online, radio, etc......Haven't talked to one lately that follows through with what is originally discussed.
I usually put a little sticker with a price on my neck and hold a sign in Wile E. Coyote style: ON SALE.
The DIY method is coming back, well it's always been there, now its just the obvious way to go. Internet is a powerful tool, any band can promote themselves, make videos, book gigs, it depends solely on how much more you want to achieve with your band. Some guys just want to make music and that's ok.
Bands are small companies it's kind of lame when you think about it back in the day, late 70's, musicians would just concentrate on the music but that's not entirely true in reality artists have always struggled to put their work out there.
record companies are obsolete we've worked with them and they end up doing what we were already doing by ourselves. The only good part about a record company is the promo stuff and their international reach, but distribution? People still buy cds? Last album I ever bought was in early 2005
Nothing so far :(
Never dealt with record companies. I'd rather go self employed.
I just try to be myself.
I make it a goal to book shows and promote these shows, I'm continually working on expanding this and developing these goals here: http://www.negarmusic.com
and here http://www.facebook.com/negarmusic I am making more use of twitter as well: http://www.twitter.com/negarmusic My experience with companies and representatives have been short and few. I don't depend of these to be the be all and end all of what I do.
Our experience is zero, were searching and looking very hard and constant, to work with a record company or representative who believes in us, thats our main goal.
i just push
Like I said, we've been on the down low so far. A friend (who is a DJ/mixer and guitarist) and I are considering starting our own record label. Look out for Lukrayne Records, coming soon!
I use all avenues available to me to get my work to the people.Record companies in the U.K. suffer from 'followitis'.Not much artist development going on just alot of -'I heard label 'A' just had a hit album with artist '1' so we as label 'B' need to get our own version of artist '1' and give it a slight twist so we don't look like a bag of pirates...'I know,We'll call them, him or her - '2'!
Só gravações e distribuições independentes. Tudo feito por nós e pago com nosso dinheiro. |
