How do you feel right before going out on stage?
Good! I love performing.
A cross between excitement and contentment. I live for the stage!
Excited, but calm. I enjoy performing, especially when I'm/we're well rehearsed.
Nervous but also very excited! I love it!
So relieved that it is "my turn to show the world what I feel" at last!
Happy and eager and serene and concentrated and energetic...and it is like a drug, each time I want more and I can' wait for the next time, and it is exponential...Wow!
When I am on stage, I go into a new form, I take on the preservation of the deep down south, I am a country girl even though I was born in New York Harlem, It is like the spirit release from the body, and the horns began to play, and my favorite words or take me to the cotton club jimmy, he’s the key board player, and when he start playing those blues, my body then turns into the ancestors who stood these grounds, I keep the originality but there’s nothing like them down home blues.
I used to feel VERY nervous to the point where I felt my whole body was seizing up. I've now done it so often it feels very natural. Just a bit of butterflies which is always a good thing.
I still feel very nervous particularly if its a new venue. Once I start singing the nerves melt away.
I never quite right. I always get nervous but I don't let fear rule my life.
