How often do you practice?
It's a full time job for me now, so I guess I am practicing this everyday.
I always do something to help further my knowledge. When I'm not crafting beats I'm reading on new techniques, or I'm sending out beat emails. My only day off from music is Friday, I designate that day to my wife and kids.

There is rarely a day that goes by that i'm not on fl studio for at least 1 hour. At my peak I will be on there 5-10 hours a day.
I practice every Thursday when i go to open mic show cases and I read alot of books
I play and/or sing a minimum of at least once a week. Norm is probably 2-3 days a week.
These days, not so much. I used to practice every day for at least two hours or more. I was in music school, though. Most people I knew where practicing for at least four hours. I'd be braindead after two, so I knew I had to stop or I'd burnout. Keep in mind that on top of the two practicing alone hours, I was playing in large ensembles for most of my evenings. I came in knowing the parts, but to me, that was practice for a group performance and was in some contexts more important than just knowing my part. I needed to hear how my part fit the ensemble.

Studio time is a day to day process for us, so i guess we are both practicing all the time.
When I was more serious of attempting to play in a symphony, I would practice at least an hour every day. Now, I've switched majors and career paths (though I still teach private lessons), I only practice an hour or so three times a week.
We practice at least once a week. If there is a gig that week then we might do two to three. |
