How do you know when a song is finished or needs no more changes?
I know when i song is finished when i´m happy with the result if not then i just get back to work till i´m satisfied
I can't really explain it. I have been doing it for so long I just know when it's done and ready to go into final mastering.
It's hard to gauge. I can usually just feel when it sits right. There's not necessarily a formula to it for me. I know some guys that have a system to it, though. Some times are easier than others with this. If I keep hearing something that I'm not getting out, I know to keep going until that sound can be produced. If I get too burned out, I leave it for awhile. I have an entire library of ideas that are still undeveloped just because I didn't want to risk adding/taking something away.
It is never really finished, just at a point where you don't object to others hearing it!
for me a song is never finished, i develop every day, so every time i listen back to a track it could use some changes..
you could say its finished because in that stadium its not possible to change it any more..

The song itself will let you know
Its usually a feeling we both get that the tune is now finished. We are always tweeking sounds to make them sound better, so its a gradual process.
If I have composed it, I can usually tell, yes. |
