How do you know when a song is finished or needs no more changes?
I'll mostly do the whole process from the initial idea to the mix. As soon as I realize I cannot do any more changes that make it sound better, it's finished.
After I've listened long enough and can hear nothing I want to change.
Ha, that is the trick is it not? Learning how to self-edit it really all about the last 10% of a project; the hardest part!
When I start recording. I will never record a song that isn't where I need it to be. No matter how long it takes.

I know a song is finished when I realized I can't make any more changes and when it sounds its best to me.

I know a song is finished when it's to the point where I can't criticize it anymore.
When i feel the feeling the people have listening to it.
When the deadline has long passed and I am about to get in big trouble.
I think is impossible to know that. Not only in music but in all artistics areas as painting, dancing, actuation, etc. All i know is the song is finished when i can say "thats pretty good".
When it feels right.
My songs are like my children. You never finish raising them but you have to let them go....
