How do you know when a song is finished or needs no more changes?
Its finished when i can play it through without makin any changes
i dont know, im a perfectionist, it can never be perfect to me, i must always tweak something or add something until its, at the very least, acceptable by my own highly critical standards
wow that tough! 4me never is indeed the best answer, snatch it out my hands lol Nahh, u get this feelin that can't b moved and tingling sensation also. 4others when they b quiet with that look or nodding there heads.
When I feel like I can play it to other people. I'm a perfectionist, so if I'm happy enough with the song to let others have a listen, it's a pretty good sign.

There's never really a definite answer- the song is done when you decide it is.
When i am happy with the general quality of the track!
I only need to listen to it a few times and let my heart decided if the song is finished or not or rather something needs to be added or taken away.
I never think any of my songs are finished. I scrap them all the time, or sometimes, i have a piano backing part that i've written so I write lyrics to it, scrap them several times and just keep changing the lyrics and concept until i'm finally content. I could chop and change my songs forever but there comes a point when I want to keep it raw and like it was in the beginning so I just decide to stop and keep it as it is.
It`s a feeling you get. After working on a song over time and listened to it hundereds of times it`s very satisfying to get that feeling.
When I finally feel that all I needed to write was there.
When I am content with it and when I my music adviser gives it a heads up.
I blast in the car and my headphones. I relisten to it over and over again until I feel like it's perfect. |
