Yes, many times. I believe a large amount of people born with musical gifts come up with their greatest hits this way.Your mind is very powerful, it knows what your heart desires and it knows all of your feelings which can contribute to song creations and selections.

Thinking about it ... a melody I never had in my dreams but the story, what to sing about. In fact - quite often I wake up having a melody on my mind, almost completely ready, chorus and verse. Yes, that happens. Maybe I developed it within or took this melody out of my dreams into reality. But I can not remember, listening to it while dreaming.
To cut it short - the question should be answered with Yes. Almost too often.

Many times I've come out of my sleep looking for a pen and paper to jot something I've dreamed down. Be it lyrics or a melody. Those ideas tend to touch home with me because they're so obviously a part of me that they were created by my subconscious mind. I'm always extremely excited to continue working with those ideas. To the point it's hard for me to go back to sleep.
