6 years of private bass lessons.
1 year studying at Humber College in the jazz program.
I took guitar lessons for 5 years and then began figuring out songs and different types of guitat techniques on my own.
I earned a B.A. in applied music from Northwest Nazarene College (now University) where I now teach. I'm not even Nazarene. I am currently working on an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies: Early Music and History, at Boise State University. I have taken douçaine lessons from Debra Nagy at Case Western, Joan Kimball from Piffaro and Rotem Gilbert from Piffaro and USC. I have taken post-graduate bass clarinet lessons from Søren Elbo at the Royal Danish Conservatory, Dennis Smylie at the Aspen Music Festival, and J. Lawrie Bloom at Northwestern University.
A year of piano lessons and one of guitar.
I had the great fortune to sing in my mother's folk music group at church when I was around 7 years old. She also led our school choir, thus I began to learn harmony then as well. At age 15, I was introduced to Claudine Spindt of the San Francisco Opera. She was a major vocal teacher in the San Francisco Bay Area. Claudine saw great potential in me and took me under her wing. I then went on to study vocals with several other prominent teachers, including noted Hindustani vocalist, Chandrakantha Courtney.
Growing up in the Bay Area, offered me exposure to some of the nations greatest musicians. My studies were done mostly through my working with artists such as Joyce Cooling, Carlos Olivera, Claudia Gomez, Tuck and Patti, Pete Escovedo, and the list goes on. I studied music formally for two years, but was often called to work overseas. The excitement of travel led me to quit school and experience life!
Independent Music Production @ Seneca, Toronto.
I was in band and choir classes throughout grade school, but most of my education has come from my own personal discovery and seeking to find how to play and sing correctly. I've taken music theory classes in college, and I'm currently enrolled in an audio engineering program to learn how to record and mix music.
Nothing fancy. I was never sent to any music school but i had the advantage to learn from some good musicians like aubrey suwito, juwita suwito, farihin, steve thornton, andy petterson and so on.
I started piano lessons at age 6, flute lessons at age 13, and was finally released from schooling at age 25!
I passed infancy in the way of a very musical environment, in the City of God - CDD, with my uncle the deceased composer of great successes and founder of Estácio de Sá (They São Carlos) in 1955, ' Sidney da Conceição' , partner of Ayrão Luiz until the decade of 80 ', and composer of ' Os Amantes', recorded music for the singer Daniel. With 5 of age I was initiated in music touching bongô, while it participated of the wheels of Samba and Serestas carried through by my parents Pablo and Dona Guiomar, in the CDD. I heard very Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Pixinguinha, Jorge Ben...
