What was your musical education?

Whohub

Formal.....mmmmmmmmm...With some teachers around. Some in a city called osorno and people like roberto chandia, pedro rodriguez, guillermo jimenez among others when i was studing guitar and composition in santiago de chile.
Bue i got to mention one of my mentors Leonardo Novoa, local producer and sessionist. He open mi mind to several licks , styles and interpretation.
Most part of my development as a guitar player was playing around with various friends, collegues or just making up songs. Just trying to fit everything. Ya know what i mean?
Im still working at the same way.

Only by experience & knowledge from my respective Senior Musicians who dedicate their lives in music & art. Maybe... If I intend to be a lecturer or teacher in music then I'll think about heading for musical education. Sorry, but that's the fact...

I took lessons from age 5-12. I also took some lessons off and on in junior high school. I started college as a music major, but switched majors my sophomore year (hence the title of my first album).

I'm completely self taught.

Self taught for 12 years, took vocal lessons for 5-6 years... hoping to get jazz guitar and blues piano lessons. :)

Not much. I took lessons until I was 4, and 2 weeks of voice.

My music education started at the age of 7, I had trumpet lessons at school and private piano lessons. I stopped lessons and concentrated on the music i wanted to play and create.

Self taught

Hmmm!! I actually started playing the piano, then the saxaphone and participated in several childrens choirs: school, church, etc.

I have learned mandolin in classical Indian style from Shri Emubhai Desai.
I have also learned Indian classical vocal music as well as keyboard from various artists.

I went to college for music... Mcnallysmith college, and berklee in boston...

I am a Voice Major at University of the Philippines.

I have been singing throughout my entire life, though I have only been performing professional for about 3 years now - going on four. I studied vocal techniques with professional opera singer, Steeve Michaud, whom I adore with my entire heart and thank endlessly for all his support and knowledge.

I graduated from Arts and Communication Magnet Academy in Beaverton, Oregon, where I focused on vocal performance. I then received my Bachelor of Arts in Music Theory and Composition from Warner Pacific College in Portland, Oregon.

I suppose when you think about it, my musical education stems from my mother originally. She sang with Kenny Rodgers and Garth Brooks when I was a child, and she always encouraged me to sing and learn music. (Seriously! When I was a kid, she gave me this little toy xylophone looking piano, and learned songs by ear).

I never had lessons or formal training, but I can play piano (without my thumbs), sing, and play a bunch of musical instruments!
