How did you begin making music? Who introduced you?
I began as a kid. I played trumpet in school band until I had to get braces for my teeth. At about eleven my father got me a cheap kit of drums (but good cymbals), and I taught myself things like Mary Mary by the Monkees, the Surfaris' Wipe Out, some Ringo sort of things... I Saw Her Standing There.
I had a hip drum teacher who would write out a chart for the beats I wanted to get a grip on, such as Jimi Hendrix, FIRE, which is a lot of information to read actually. Very good training exercise, there is a fair amount of independence in a part like that, and parsing it out and coordinating your limbs with your eye, a good thrust for me at that level of development.
My mom, I got to take me, in '69 to see Hendrix at the local hockey rink, I was 12 going on thirteen.
That was probably the biggest influence early on, it turned me around, I switched to electric guitar as soon as I could.
I started singing at the age of 6, after watching Disney's "The Little Mermaid". So I suppose you could say it was Ariel that introduced me! But lots of people have encouraged me along the way, including my family and my teachers and lecturers.
Me,and my self...
I started with my father, whom was a professional piano player himself. He introduced me into the music when I was a little boy.
my parents were both piano and class music teachers
My Mom is a classical musician, and oldest brother was in bands when I was kid. I guess I just fell into it, eventually choosing it over all other career options.
Also, when I attended Columbia College Chicago, my mentor was William Russo, and he introduced me to many jazz and blues greats, which certainly influenced the nature of my writing.
My self and friends
I WAS A ROADIE IN 5 BANDS SO I WAS HELPING OUT IN 2007 I DROPED MY 2 POEMS ON A DEMO
I was self-introduced into making music. I have always grown up listening to a variety on music from jazz to classical rock to hip hop. I fell in love with hip hop at the age of about 7, and started writing lyrics when I was 9 years old. I started playing the piano at the age of 13, and began producing soon after. My mixing & engineering career began when i was 12, when I started to record my own music.
September 2006 I was introduced to making music by Kennie Dubb on a collab song titled "N.B.Y.G Soldiers" N.B.Y.G stands for North Bronx Young Gunnaz
I started rapping and became interested in music around 5 or 6 years old. I remember having a tape recorder and playing around recording myself trying to rap. No one person or artist influenced me to start rapping or writing, it was something I just picked up on my own and later became influenced by some artist in regards to my style and how I went about creating songs.
We Started as music collectors to becoming DJs.1 day we thought the big guns are not giving enough music to the music lovers so we decided to close the gap, thats when we met a guy called WBM(Sound Engineer) and he gave us some basic knowledge on production and the rest is history.
start whem i was 15 years ,now 34
In high school everyone wanted to be a rapper. So we used to mess around and make some rhymes for fun and so on. I started making music after I wrote poetry for 2 years. I always loved to write but I always loved music as well, so I figured why not do both. But it wasn't until after high school when I started taking music seriously and actually felt like i had god giving talent to make music for the rest of my life. No I'm NOT cocky and I'm definitely not saying I'm the best artist out there but I do feel like I have a lot to give to the music industry and once I'm given the shot, I'm taking 1000% full advantage of it.
My brother who left us in the year 2007. He is a amazing lead guitarist and so he always need someone to play along with him whenever he practice - so i grew up jamming with him all the time.
when i was 14, i could play almost all the chords and knew all the timing. so i started composing a song trying to find my own new chords combination. and i started liking it myself - since then i never stop writing and composing. |
