How did you begin making music? Who introduced you?

I was taught piano from the age of 7. I hated it, but came round just after I stopeed going to classes. Doesn't say music for my teacher, eh? 


I was originally introduced to the drums by my primary school caretaker who was playing in a semi professional band. from that time on i was always interested in music. 


I started playing bass at the age of 13, if anybody introduced me it would have been my Grandmother who used to play piano, I then trained in musical instrument making and repair in Wimbledon. 


i was introduced by my next door neighbour who became my keyboard teacher.
i began writing my own songs at around the age of 12.
 


My family have a musical background. My mother used to be in a band with her brothers and sisters when she was younger plus my uncle on my father's side was a guitarist in a band in the 60's, I believe he even cut a record. 


I began making music at 16. 


I started making Music when i was in my late teens, I wrote songs for fun... 


I have been making music since i was 10, noone introduced me but I was influenced into picking up a guitar by my Uncle 


The washing machine introduced me. When I learned to walk and stand up I used to stand in front of the washing machine and dance to the rythm of it spinning. 


I did myself at home just after I'd left school, probably to lose my virginity more than anything else! So it was her. 


At 9 years of age my elder brother "Barry Stewart" introduced me to the bass guitar, then at 11 years old
, my other older brother "Norman Stewart" Introduce me to the steelpans
 


Inherited my late great father's old harmonica's and blues record collection. So he did. 


I was aware that I could sing and knew this is what I would pursue as a career at the very young age of 5! There was never any question that I would do anything else.

My mother had been a professional singer for a short time and I was encouraged by everyone in my family, especially my Grandad Frank who would record me singing hymns.

I realised that I might be good at singing when, aged 5 my class teacher Mrs McRon frequently asked me to sing to the class and made everyone be very quiet!

I started singing classical repertoire in choirs from the age of 10 and I took up playing rhythm guitar and gigging around my home city of Leicester aged 16.
 


I was always into music as my dad has always played the drums, my first real experience was at about 11 when sat on stage with my dad playing along on a drum box, got paid for that too. 


I started playing guitar when I was 14, and songwriting straight away. No-one really introduced me to it, although my parents paid for the guitar.
