I'm a violist in a symphony orchestra. I have no particular specialty other than playing music that involves a full symphony orchestra. I also play in a string quartet which performs music from many stylistic periods.
UPDATED November 2110:
Hello...
i consider myself to be an indie musician in the band Betty Donelly ..which is funny because i am a solo artist, as i play the different instruments on each song myself
(drums are coming soon too!),
As i can make up from the feedback and song reviews i am getting from listeners, other musicians as well as industry folks, my forte seems to be songwriting, and i would add that playing all the instruments you hear on my post 2004 recordings was certainly a thrill
Although i must say i'm not that good at playing the guitars and bass guitar, .. this is mainly due to the fact that while i do rehearse my songs, (there were times that i would play my set a couple times per day during months and months on end) ... i never actually do exercises, you know ..
i was never good at reading music, even though i've been in music academy as a child during some seven years and have been going back to music academy and even Rock School ..
Of course i have my 'secret method' of creating what others perceive as really good songs, even using basic music instrumental skills ..
i acquired basic recording skills such as how to place microphones in front of speaker cabinets and some basic mastering ...also i finally learned how to use my old FOSTEX X-26 mini mixer console the proper way ...
Using basic audio only sequencer software with just the elementary features ... i decided that i will never be a sound engineer or a MIDI programmer so i just use an audio sequencer ..
And i also had to consider that if i wanted to get my music out there, and without a solid signed contract with some decent record label to back me up on the promotions and marketing levels, i had to go through the steep learning curve of all things related to just that, getting your music heard by as much people as possible ..
This would have been a near impossible task in the days when the internet was still in its infancy, but i got lucky ... By the time i was ready to get some exposure for my music, the internet had evolved, into, well, let's just say i was just in time to make use of the upcoming web 2.0, or social networking ..
Nowadays, one doesn't have to be all that tech savvy to get oneself online and all, although i think we will see an exponential growth in the number of users as technology becomes even more user friendly or when more and more users of third world countries go online!.
i still had to work my way through a thick HTML tutorial to get my own website online, but the use of widgets and things has made it possible to create stuff on my website i would normally be unable to
i can say that im quite good at both songwriting and making decent recordings in a relatively cheap way, all from home, using just my Fostex mixer, a computer and a very old sound card, which still performs quite well in my eyes ..
So, in the sense that creating an online presence is undoubtedly coupled with music activities, in particular for DIY (Do It Yourself) artists and bands, i can add this to my skills or specialities
All in all, realising that i can always evolve and do better with each new project i set out to do is very rewarding and uplifting for me ..

BLUESFUZE "WE'RE HAVING A PARTY"
Released: January 2009
The CD BLUESFUZE "WE'RE HAVING A PARTY" features musicians with a cutting edge approach to music focusing on performance. This is a band with a mission. The emphasis here is not on catchy hooks or cute melodies. The concern here is playing their hearts out. Heavy guitar solo's, wailing vocals, forceful bass groove's and rhythmic drums. A tour de force of blues, rock, funk and reggae roots music which brings people to their feet every time. This band not only gets them on the dance floor but also tears down the roof with their energy and keen sense of musicianship. They are versatile and have each played with many great artists throughout their careers.
I'm a music journalist and also a musician, i play guitar my specialty is playing rock music
I write songs about dreams, unrequited love, rainy days and friendship.
I was a freelance trumpeter. Versatility was my musical specialty. Be it Rock, Jazz, Classical or in between, I was able to fit into the ensemble.
I suffered a stroke in July, of '07 and it has put me on a road to rehabilitation. I'm working at regaining my trumpet voice, practicing many elementary routines and looking for ways to re-educate my proprioceptive/musical skills.
Progress is slow but encouraging. Bottom line, without doing the work, progress would not be achieved.
I play bass guitar and program keys for the band AnaDies (http://www.myspace.com/anadies). I enjoy all kinds of music, everything from pop to metal.
I'm a guitarist from Ottumwa, Iowa. Heavy Metal is a passion of mine, and I specialize in lead guitar. |
