What advice would you give to someone who wishes to begin a blog?

Whohub

Have something to write, but to earn some money, just be the best!

Think about what you like, what's your passion and what you want to share with others. Don't worry too much about formalities, just get started. If you get writer's block just start writing some random notes, whatever comes to your mind and eventually it will take shape. Think about what you might be talking about casually with a friend or someone you just met that migth lead to an interesting conversation.

Decide where you want to do it and what you want for a topic, if it's your personal diary online or a themed publication. A community like Livejournal may be the right thing for you, those often have easy posting software that helps a beginner write blogs. Wordpress has some learning curve which is why I never set that up or did it or do websites from scratch.

If what you want out of blogging is an income producing website, I would say go to http://www.sitesell.com and shell out the $299 for an SBI! site. The software includes analysis for choosing a topical niche that will drive much larger traffic to your site and keyword it perfectly, and it is important to choose a topic you enjoy writing about because it rests on a lot of good content. That'll be your moneymaker, right now it looks like mine is probably going to pay for its initial costs pretty soon. It takes $299 annually, not everyone's pays out in the first year but if you stick with it and build it by the site's business plan it will eventually succeed.

If you want to do something else that's just a blog, I like the communities like Blogger or Livejournal.

Jump in and start it if you're getting one of those, it will evolve as you write more entries, find your style, meet your readers and friends and figure out what your topics are. A general blog can be fun and does not need to have a theme. Depends on what you want from blogging.

Don't do it for money or fame, only if you truly care about the subject because it's a lot of work.

Don`t expect any mass getting on your site with thousands of comments and big incomes. If your blog isn`t` a commercial blog, write it in principle for your own.

find some interest information, and re-type with your style at your blog

Spell correctly and use proper grammar.

Read Boing Boing and Whatever, because they are setting the standard.

Kick the ball. What are you waiting for. If a man born to a woman can do it, why cant you?

For writers especially I think the blog is an important platform for showing your work, sharing your interests and promoting your published or w.i.p. writing.

Jump in and do it. I have learned by doing. There are plenty of websites available on starting a blog if you want to do research first but I didn't go that route. I started it first then went back to fix things as I learned the rules of the road.

Easy -- like anything else in this world: just do it.

Only do it if you have a trust fund or sugar daddy/momma.

They're a dime a dozen these days.

My blog leads with the plea: Go Ahead. Dive in!
'Nuff said.
