What advice would you give to someone who wishes to begin a blog?

Whohub

I wouldn't have "advice" per-say I would just say do it! If that's how somebody wants to express themselves then I would encourage them!!

GO FOR IT! and always remember WHY you started your blog in the first place. don't lose sight of that reason because its easy to get lost and caught up in other things that don't truly matter. things you didn't even know existed before you started your blog. stay true to yourself.

That the road is made by walking, and write something every day or posting photos. Not complicated in construction and eventually be able to see other blogs to learn from them

First, they should find a great platform to use. It's a pain to move your blog and webpage, like I did. Blogger is great, but I did not offer the features I needed. Second, don't get caught up in trying to be the next celeb gossip blogger. Just be yourself and the readers will appreciate your view on things. Last, blog on a everything...even things you don't know about. It gives a great opportunity for your readers to do more that just agree or disagree with you. They can share what they know on the topic and create so good dialog.

Spend some time thinking about what you want to blog on, look at the various systems and choose the one that suits you then go for it!

Create your own voice and identify a niche. Don't rehash press releases word for word, word bash fellow bloggers or worse still, plagarise work.

First make sure you do your research to learn everything about blogging. Second, come up with your idea and identify your focus. There are quite a few blogs of similar subjects so you should really stick to something you're passionate about because your passion will come through your blog. Just because it's already been done doesn't mean you can't do it. Third, don't give up!

Nearly 90% of blogs get abandoned within the first three months. If you're going to write a blog, make sure you keep up with it. Have a reliable friend ask you "Have you blogged today?"

And most importantly, blog your passion. Money can't inspire you past a point.

Commit to writing daily. Use the connections you already have to gain readership. Try not to copy other blogs, even if you really love them. Find your own style.

Blog from your heart and it will be successful.

Read a lot of blogs. If you're trying to be successful, expect to fail a lot. And also expect to totally change what you were planning on doing to begin with.

Why not?

Always be courteous no matter what vitriol are in comments. Have a thick skin because you are going to find people can get pretty angry and passionate over something you write, and they sometimes write comments or counter posts with wording they would not ordinarily use in person.

Be passionate and knowledgeable on what you write. Research, research research. If you are not accurate or don't know what you are writing about, people will pick up on that pretty quickly and drop reading you.

Write about what you are passionate about first and foremost. Include pics, links, videos, etc. Include tags and a social media share button to help people share your posts to social media sites linking back to your blog.
