How has 'having a blog' contributed to your life?
Kept me busy and gives me always somewhere to post that "really cool thing I found" without being annoying about it to anyone who doesn't want to be annoyed by it.
Generally keeps me more open to other people's options/opinions as well. I'm ALWAYS looking for new amusements. Actually I usually find more than I can blog about.
I enjoy sharing. It's a way for me to catalogue my life and also for me to share it.
As a writer, it gives me focus. It has also made me a much keener observer. I so appreciate all the fine people I have met as a result of my writing.
It forces me to think...and think through ideas. It also has made me a better writer and editor. Blogging allows me to express ideas and know that I have put them down in words, so I feel like I can let go of the thoughts and move on.
I see that having a blog makes me to think about my experiences and evaluate them. You have to have an opinion about a topic and needs to support that by giving examples and explaining and it contributes for your personal development.
I start to realize all the challenges that I have faced in my trips around the world and how the unknown has become normal as you get used to it/adapted.
To be a travel blogger also allows me to connect with people with same interests. We get to meet virtually (so far) by Twitter, Facebook and even by comments. We can exchange tips and experiences and support each other.
I was a bit wary about starting a blog as I didn't want to be one of those boring bloggers who just wrote about mundane activiites and their daily life. This is why I chose a subject that had a breadth of material and which I wouldn't have issues coming up with new topics. Whenever I solve an interesting problem at work I think to myself, can I blog about this and the answer is usually yes.
The good thing about a technical blog is that if you have solved a problem there is always going to be others requiring a solution so sharing the answer is always going to help someone out even if the subject is very niche.
It's has made me learn a lot as I find myself researching for material to write about.
It has opened up a whole new world to me and even pointed me into a new career path. I have met so many amazing people and visited some great places as well as discovering many spots in London that most people never get to visit. The blog has opened up the world of bloggers to me and all that that entails. If you have a passion and want to find like-minded individuals, a blog is probably one of the best ways to do so (that and twitter, IMHO!)
It has given me an excuse to sit back and reflect on what is happening in my life.
that's an easy one to answer... I've become more aware of the world around me and what people are doing and thinking. Whereas before I listened now I listen for purpose. I want to really understand someone's point of view because I want to represent it well. I also want to see how my thinking compares to theirs and other friends, theories, perspectives.
I'm learning a lot and I'm starting to get lots of cool opportunities to go to events and meet wonderful people. It's also been a lot of work. I love it!
I have daily commitment with my blog and i must spend about 2 hrs everyday..if not i feel like crazy..
It has changed some things, in a good way! As I post some pretty personal feelings, I have become a little more vulnerable, however the connections I've made are priceless. I have had tours of radio stations, have talked with local broadcasters and have been put on the radar! Plus for me, my passion is broadcasting, so without a job I need a creative outlet... and my blog does just this! Pretty awesome feeling!
Yes, in terms of creative expression and the pleasure of meeting new and interesting people.
Having a blog has allowed me to become a bigger part of the community I love so much, and has given me an opportunity to really dive into and express my feelings about one of my very favorite things in the world. Not only that, but it allows me to provide a service that wished I had when I was just a fan: lists of the best games and best controllers at the best prices, with no muss and no fuss. Everything in one place, laser-targeted to flight sim fans. |
